[Gully Classix] Cam’ron – D Rugs

Today on #GullyClassix we’re featuring Cam’ron’s “D Rugs” which takes the listener on a journey through the protagonist’s experience with his mother being a drug abuser and his own experience as a dealer. In the end both the drug abuser and the dealer meet with unsavory results. From a technical standpoint the way Cam flipped the concept of drugs and gave “him” the name D Rugs was pretty genius.

[DOPE or NAH?] ScHoolboy Q – CHopstix ft. Travis Scott

ScHoolboy Q released a visual for “CHopstix” featuring Travis Scott and it’s pretty creative. They thought outside the box for this one as it features Travis Scott acting as a band conductor, ScHoolboy Q as a magician, and a score of ballerina dancers in the background. What do you think? DOPE or NAH?

#GullyClassix: MF Doom – Hoe Cakes

In today’s edition of #GullyClassix we’re sharing MF Doom’s “Hoe Cakes”. I’m selecting this for no particular reason other than I was listening to MM…FOOD and all of it is classic. The way “Hoe Cakes” starts though? Pure boom bap Valhalla before it really kicks in with the lyrics. Too dope. Now I’m off to listen to “Kon Queso”.

Today on #GullyClassics we’ve got 1993’s “Who Am I (What’s My Name)” by Snoop Dogg. It’s insane when you start to peel back the layers of Dr. Dre’s impact on the industry. What’s also impressive is Snoop Dogg’s lasting presence as his star continues to shine bright no matter what he gets into.
